great preparation for the upcoming triathlon
Open water swimming practice is key to performing well in a triathlon. Right now at Lake Belton the water is very high, due to the spring and summer rains. My friend's parents live at the lake, and their house has a lake access. We have swam the last two Sundays, and the water is warm, like bathtub warm. There is some debris in the water, but nothing dangerous. I wear a swim belt, so do not worry about sinking if I get a cramp. Plus, we swim in twosomes for safety.

    Fishing tips!
Fishing is good around the underwater sandbar using shad or spoons. I like to anchor there at night. Trolling along the cliffs near Morgans Point will produce lots of hits but mostly mid sized whites. The Hwy 36 bridge in the deepest part of the river always has lots of whites especially in cooler weather. Fish between the red Xs marked on the bridge columns. Shad is easy to find and net upstream of Cedar Ridge. Drive slow between the rocks but it is passable. Warning, this lake now has zebra mussles :(
