Great place to start a tour of Bastrop
My husband and I started our self-tour of Bastrop with a stop at the visitor center on Main Street. A very nice older gentleman volunteer gave us brochures. He told us about the downtown area and more. The brochures had pictures, descriptions and locations of historical buildings and homes in Bastrop. That was very helpful. There is access to the June Hill Pape Riverwalk behind the visitor center. The visitor center is free. There were lots of local brochures, Texas brochures, a nicely restored old fire truck and some smaller items. The restrooms were nice. The museum inside the visitor center cost was $5. We did not go in the small museum.

Good information
The visitors centre was nice and the ladies manning the desk were very friendly. There were a lot of brochure information. This building used to be a fire station, so they had an old firetruck. There was a tall space with a ladder that said it was where they would hang their hoses to dry. We had not seen something like that before.
