Bandera Natural History Museum is also now a home to Beautiful Artwork
Surprised by the wonder of the dioramas with animals from around the world presented in very life-like poses. Museum is more than the outside full-sized dinosaurs that are sure to captivate the attention of youngsters. Also, visited the six-week now open section with beautiful old Spanish / Mexican artwork collected by the same family that donated the taxidermy animals found in the original museum. Docent (Sherry) gave us a lot of history about the art and artists.

    Small but nice
We were in Bandera and looking for something to do when we ran across this place. Glad we did. There is a small walk outside with life sized dinosaurs which is perfect for kids (and adults if you love dinos) The inside of the museum has 2 parts. One is an art museum and the other is a walk through nature exhibit with taxidermy animals. They are $10 each or $15 for the both. We opted not to do the art section but the nature exhibit was pretty awesome. It was very well organized and the lighting has a motion sensor so you won't see the displays until you get close to them. They are done quite well and it was interesting getting to see different animals in what would be their natural habitats. I recommend this museum to anyone traveling to Bandera especially if you love dinosaurs and nature. My only complaint is the gift shop. It is almost completely geared towards kids. All the shirts were kids sizes and they mostly only had stuffed animals for sale. There were a few things for adults but none of your typical tourist souvenirs. Too bad because I always spend a lot at gift shops and I didn't buy anything.....
