Bandera County Courthouse, Texas, United States

3.5 (4 reviews) Spent < 1 hour Ranking #13 in Bandera County Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks • Architectural Buildings

If you like historical buildings, this is worth at 10 minute stop

There are two buildings at this location; the 1881 one-story old jail house and the 1868 two-story old courthouse. Both buildings are made of cut limestone. The 1868 building served as the courthouse until the present courthouse was built in 1891. The buildings are not open to the public but there is talk that one may be opened as a visitor center at a later date. The condition of both buildings is amusing. If you like historical buildings, this is worth at 10 minute stop.

beautiful 3 story building has a clock tower
The Bandera County Courthouse was built in 1890. The beautiful 3 story building has a clock tower in the middle of the building. The style is Renaissance Revival and made of local cut limestone. It is located on Main Street (the main road through town). The building sits on a one block by one block of land. There is free parking around the courthouse. It was nice to walk around the building and read the historic plates.

    Beautiful old building
This historic building has quite a history. If in Bandera it is worth a stop here. These are not my thing but I enjoyed this one.
