More than a park for picnics!!
The Bandera City Park is right on the Medina River. The park has wonderful amenities to include playgrounds, pavilions, tables, etc. like you would expect to find at a park. But then you see the beautiful river. The Medina River is incredibly blue, green. With huge trees over hanging the river. You will see folks kayaking, tubing, swimming, jumping off rocks, swinging from ropes in trees and just having a great time. I had come out to support friends in a BBQ cook off, but I spent most of my time wishing I had worn my swim suit!!! I will be back soon with suit and towel in tow. And of course - to make the day perfect - in the early evening as we were leaving, we saw fire flies. Great place - we will be back!! And soon!!!

Breathtaking
Beautiful cypress trees line the banks of this part of the river that runs through the park. Start at the far end of the park and peacefully float to the other end. For the dare devils ropes hang out over the deeper parts of the river and brave souls climb up to platforms to snare the ropes and swing out over the water. Shallow areas and natural gravel pits make for shallow water fun for small children and parents soak in the water and watch their young children play in the rocks.

Nice place to sit and swing.
There are swings for people of all ages and abilities. We walked around the town and after finishing with the local museums, we sat and rested in the park.
