Athens Scuba Park, Texas, United States

Best place to dive in Texas!

Best place to Scuba Dive in Texas hands down! Staff was so accommodating and nice, the visibility was 25 feet at least. They have actual wrecks unlike the ones at Scuba Ranch or Huntsville. Also doesn’t have the annoying crowds that make the experience crappy.. They focus on recreational diving and don’t allow outside classes here.

    Great place to go!
Reading some of the other reviews were interesting. The real truth is that this is NOT the Caribbean BUT, for Texas, it is a great place to go. In fact, this is our place to go to practice between trips. As for friendly, it is family run and they are VERY friendly. In fact, being somewhat new divers, we asked questions and the owner was very helpful. The other choice in the Dallas area is Scuba Ranch which is extremely crowded with the classes and the water is horrible. My wife and I highly recommend Athens Scuba Park. No crowds. Showers, cleaning stations for equipment, free use of kayaks, and more.

    Athens Scuba Park
Visited Athens Scuba Park in June of 2020 and besides one other group we had the place to ourselves. Visibility was around 25 feet on the first day and around 10 feet on dives the following morning. Tons to explore and the place was well kept. Owners were eager to make the experience as enjoyable as possible and we will be visiting again. Drove all the way from Colorado and compared to the Scuba Ranch we visited a month later, Athens is the better of the two. Both were good but Athens is better in my opinion because it is geared towards already certified divers, while the Scuba Ranch is full of students with priority given to scuba schools. Very silty bottom and proper finning techniques is a must.
