Andy's on River Road, Texas, United States

Andy knows the river.

We went to Andy's this past weekend, a week when all of Texas, including Concan had massive flooding. The river was running rough and fast and was quite dangerous in places. Another storm was approaching the area. Andy said we could take the "fast ride" on the river, which would take about an hour. But wouldn't allow any other rubbers until after he knew what the storm was going to do. He was very cautious and wasn't going to take any chances with his customers. He told us the areas to avoid that were too dangerous and what to do and not do. We had a great ride and got off the river well before the storm came in. His drivers were very helpful and friendly and added to the fun and excitement of the day. After the ride he asked us about the ride and any area of danger we encountered. He said " You have to respect the power of the river." He does. And I respect an honest and hard working businessman who is more concerned about his customer's fun and safety then turning a buck.

    Great Experience
Everyone at Andy's took great care of us. Britney helped us rent 2 kayaks to take our kids (7 and 5) down the Frio from Seven Bluffs to the take out spot across from Neal's at the river bridge. Sonia the bus driver was fun and friendly, and was prompt in shuttling us to and from the river. It took us nearly 3 hours, and although the river was flowing pretty good, we still had to get out and pull the kayaks in some places. Next time we will tube it. The college Spring Break crowd was a little raucous (and drunk), but that is to be expected on the river. They set a good example for our kids of how not to behave when they are older. We did see plenty of families paddling and floating. We broke the shaft on one of our paddles, and although no one noticed I went in and told Britney what had happened. She didn't know how to charge me for it, so I left my number. She called me back soon and said Andy said thanks for letting us know, but don't worry about it. They earned another visit from us for that alone!

    Started good - ended bad
The trip was perfect until the end. We waited and called for the pickup bus. The lady who answered said he would be right there. After 40 more minutes, we walked just over a mile to Andy’s where the buses were sitting - not picking up other tubers. The driver was talking with the other workers. Very irritating - drove our truck back to pick up the others and the tubes for drop off. Except for that incident the trip was perfect. It was a real bummer to finish the day like that.
