    Knoxville Zoo
Our family visited the Knoxville Zoo on a Saturday afternoon. We were able to get 50% off admission since we are members of our local zoo. I had visited before but not in many years. The zoo isn’t tiny but isn’t so large that you would need a full day to visit. We visited every site and particularly enjoyed the African section and the treehouse area.

Good for Kids, Stay safe on the ride to the zoo
Average zoo experience, came here often in my animal science curriculum at UT. Loved the Red Pandas and and new reptile exhibit. I volunteered here for Boo at the Zoo to hand out candy to children during the month of October, so a great place to bring small children around Halloween. Very clean, very knowledgeable staff. I’ve been to zoos all over the country, and besides the Red Panda conservation efforts there isn’t a lot of difference between most other zoos. The zoo itself is not in the nicest of areas in Knoxville, so be sure to follow the GPS when venturing to the zoo. My first trip in 2015 we took a wrong turn and did not feel the safest in the neighborhood we happened to drive into. If you are crunched for time in your visit to Knoxville I would skip this attraction as there are other things that would be a better use of your time like Market Square, of Ijams Nature Center. For kids, well it’s a zoo, a regular zoo with regular zoo animals.
