University of Tennessee Arboretum, Tennessee, United States

4.5 (21 reviews) Spent 1-2 hours Ranking #6 in Oak Ridge Nature & Wildlife Areas • Hiking Trails

A great way to spend an hr or 2

Beautiful! Free! I have not been to such a nice arboretum before that was free! Wide, well-marked trails mean you don't get lost AND you don't walk into spider webs (double bonus). I used the Picture This app to identify trees and fungi not labeled. It was a good time.

    Very pleasant hike
We visited the second week of March so little was in bloom but it was a very pleasant walk. There are lots of interesting trees and shrubs and a very interesting dwarf and unique conifer planting. Huge white oak and tulip poplar. Large Holly bushes. There are 12 trail options plus gravel trail roads from 0.06 to 0.9 miles but unfortunately you can’t drive on the trail roads to be able to access different loops, all have to start at the visitors center and add the appropriate road distance. The trails are all well maintained and well marked. Younger people will not have any problems but older folks may want to stick to the gravel roads and avoid steeper hills, rocks and tree roots.

    Beautiful Place
This is a beautiful place for a walk! Well kept and cared for. They have rules for a reason. Please don't eat and throw your garbage on the trails. It is such a beautiful location because they don't allow picnicing and pets. There are other places that do. Go there! Help keep this place clean and lovely!
