Turtletown Falls Trail, Tennessee, United States

5.0 (5 reviews) Spent More than 3 hours Ranking #1 in Farner Hiking Trails

Great for families or solo

12/29/2020; Nature at it's finest, waterfalls. We took the trail to the left or closet to the creek and that would be my preference again. There are three sets of waterfalls and at the very end where the tail ends is a double fall. Then you turn around and go back but take the trail to the left to walk the crest of the mountain to see the mountains in the distance. The age range was 70 to 9 and it was wet as it had just rained but no slips and falls. It takes about 2 hours or a little more. We got there and there were two vehicles, when we left it packed around the circle and cars parked along the road getting in as well. (Just park to the right so others may pass when exiting).

    Great Waterfall's
Great hike for two outstanding waterfalls. Make sure to use a truck, jeep, or SUV to drive into the area to park (a car will not get through the rough terrain). Narrow, single lane dirt road with several washed out areas. Keep traveling the road until the turn around at the end. When on the trail, at the fork go to your left and follow the creek on your left. The hike back was more of a steep climb and not as much of a view.

    Two Beautiful Waterfalls
We took our dog for a hike to the Turtletown Waterfalls. Note that the location is the turn for the gravel road, you need to drive about 1.5 miles down this road to the trailhead. There is an auto ford right before the trailhead that may be difficult for cars with low clearance. Turtletown Falls Trail is a partial loop, reaching the loop portion after about 3/4 of a mile. We went left to stay close to the creek and came to the first waterfall, a 25-foot twin falls. It was about another mile to the lower falls, a rather unique cascade that fans out as the water drops. We hiked up Shinbone Ridge to make a loop on the way back. The total loop was just under 4 miles. Overall, a great hike with lots of scenery and potentially swim holes if the weather is warm.
