Fantastic trip!
Celebrating the kid's 13th birthday, we drove from Ellijay to TN to visit this railroad. We scheduled the 4 hour nonstop trip over the Hiawassee River. The trio was great!! Harvey was our train guide and at 83 watching him light up while telling us about trains was wonderful. He literally jumped off the moving train when the engine switched at our stopping point!!! Our conductor gave a great tour of the surroundings and on the way back played banjo in every car. Made me tear up when he played my grandma's favorite hymn. The cars are clean and well preserved. We walked them all. They allowed us to stand in the vestiblues for amazing pictures too!! We look forward to returning sometime in the future!

Grandson’s wish list - train ride ✅
Our teenage grandson from Florida visited us for two weeks and brought his ‘wish list’. Last thing we had to do was a train ride. We couldn’t have made a better choice than the Hiwassee Loop. We enjoyed the dome, the views, the fellow travelers, the narrative and the staff who were attentive and knowledgeable.
