Unexpected Treat for History Lovers
What a Wonderful surprise to find this large as life museum. It is well laid out, professional presentation of the Tennessee River Valley around Hardin County and speaks for the entire massive river's history. It is strong in many areas such as pre-history archaeology, Indian removal as well as European influence of pioneer settlement, commerce such as steam boating, mussel collection up to current affairs. It was worth every minute of our visit which stretched to nearly two hours.

Filled with History
Dont let the size of the building fool you, this museum is full of history and very nicely laid out. The displays tell the stories of what you are seeing and not just some generic labels. A couple of items are eyebrow raising because one is a first in the US. The fee is very affordable. Nice museum and great staff.

An above average small town museum
This museum is right on the main drag in Savannah. It has well maintained exhibits from the Native American through the Civil War and the steamboat era. It is apparent that they have a paid professional staff and if you are interested in the local area, I recommend a visit.
