Spruce Flats Falls, Tennessee, United States

5.0 (136 reviews) Spent Ranking #20 in Great Smoky Mountains National Park Waterfalls

Great hike

This was not a difficult or long hike, but it was quite enjoyable. It is a bit off of the beaten path, so it wasn’t as crowded as some other areas. Follow the signs for the Tremont Institute. When we visited, the small parking area near the institute was closed off, but there was a parking area to the right just before you’d make a left turn to go to the institute. Once we went past the institute gate, there were traffic cones with signs pointing in the direction of the hike. The falls were very pretty. There were plenty of rocks to sit on to enjoy the view of the falls.

    Less trafficked falls hike
Nice falls without the major crowds. Hiked here with family including a 6 and 8 year old. Keep an eye on the little ones because there are some steep dropoffs on the trail, however we had no major problems. Terrain can be a little challenging, but take your time, anyone can do this trail. Well worth the moderately short hike for the falls. The pool below the falls is the perfect place to cool off if its hot. Trail is short enough not to have to worry about bringing food or even drinks, although, its probably a good idea to bring a beverage. Highly recommend this hike for the lower crowds and time it takes to finish.
