    HIdden gem!
This lovely little museum is truly a hidden gem. We visited on a pass-through trip of Knoxville, en route from the Southeast to the Northeast. If I had it to do over, I would restructure our 'tourist day' in Knoxville to center on this museum, including a walk around the grounds and a picnic as well (weather permitting - there is a covered picnic area on the grounds of the museum, which are beautiful and situated along a lake), with a hop over to Fort Loudon State Park next door. Museum ticket was $10 for anyone over 12 (under 12, free) and takes about an hour to walk through. Perfect for ages 10 - 80+ years of age! Not crowded, in excellent condition, accessible bathrooms, clean, informative. I am a Tennessee native and learned completely new things about the state's history and contribution of Sequoyah to US culture. Recommend.

From being a blacksmith to creating the written word of the Cherokee language.
This museum focuses on the life of Sequoia a Cherokee, Native American, who invented the written letters to form the written Cherokee alphabet making their language from a spoken language to a written language. This museum has 3 top tier(this museum invested a lot of money and it shows) multimedia exhibits, that help in telling the story of Sequoia and his syllabus. The museum itself is rather short however it is packful of information.
