    A Night to Remember
We attended a Christmas Candlelight Tour and as our first experience it was exceptional! We enjoyed the guides who were in character both in dress and how they spoke. They represented late 1700’s Tennessee territory in their stories, the atmosphere… it was really special. We loved the little makers market at the end and Mrs & Mrs Clause were super sweet! We highly recommend a tour… but a Christmas tour is special.

The re-enactors were incredibly knowledgeable and engaging.
We just went to Rocky Mount State Museum and went on the Colonial Christmas tour. It was so interesting. The re-enactors were incredibly knowledgeable and engaging. It is obvious they love history and also love to share their knowledge. We learned so many things, for example where the term "hot toddy" came from. Their way of life from poor to wealthy, dress, how they kept warm, livestock they kept, how they cooked, what very young people had to do to help out, their life spans, and how incredibly resourceful they were. Life in the 1700s was a very different time and the reenactors made it seem as if we had gone back in time and were actually there. A very worthwhile visit for all ages!
