    Breathtaking Scenery
As my husband says, "At Reelfoot Lake, you can't take a bad picture." Being a photographer, I told him that he was right, but you can take even better pictures with the right gear! We saw Eagles hanging out on a stump (or something) out in the middle of the lake. Good thing I had my zoom lens! We stayed in one of the cabins which was awesome! If you can spend the money on one, it is well worth the cost. The cabins are spaced far enough apart so that you do have plenty of privacy outdoors (not total, but plenty). There are chairs to sit out on your private deck and there are picnic tables (nice ones) just downstairs from the cabin deck with a fire pit next to it. We were able to buy the appropriate wood for burning in the park at the Visitor's Center. It was about $7 per bundle. A single bundle was perfect for each night we were there. We were there in the "off season", so there were no daily boat tours, but we knew that going in. It was a little too cool to kayak, but again, we knew that too. We enjoyed walking trails, although, they were not marked extremely well. But, just being outdoors in that beautiful scenery was enough of a quick vacation for us.

    fun
We have done the eagle bus tour in the past, so this time we did the auto tour. It is nice to have areas to walk out to the overview the lake and short walks to see nature. We liked seeing the eagles and owls who could not be returned to the wild. The driving map was very helpful. The lake has a bleak beauty in winter. The state cabins looked nice with good views of the lake, but they require a two day stay and we could not afford that at the prices asked.
