Reminiscing from years past

Prichard’s Distillery incorporated in 1997 with their award-winning aged American rum in hand. They opened their first distillery in 1999 in the historic Kelso, Tennessee schoolhouse. Five generations ago in 1822, Granddaddy Benjamin Prichard of Davidson County, TN left his still, tubs, utensils and techniques of the craft to his son Enoch. Suffice it to say that long before they became a “legal” distillers, the Prichard family was known to make the best whiskey in the area. When descendant Phil Prichard opened Prichard’s Distillery in Kelso, TN, he restored a lost art form. The Prichard family continues to produce some of the finest tasting rums and Tennessee whiskey in America. Prichard’s portfolio includes aged and flavored Rums, Tennessee whiskies and bourbons, bourbon liqueurs such as Sweet Lucy, Sweet Lucifer, and Sweet Lucy Bourbon Cream and decadent creams.

A must visit place near Lynchburg, TN
Prichard’s is a hidden gem. It is located in a 1930’s schoolhouse, and walking through on the tour you can see what it was before and what Mr. Prichard has made it today. They only have 7 employees. So when you show up for a tour, one employee takes you on a tour but still has to complete the day’s work. The tour is short, and the employee who leads them needs to get back to normal work. So I will say the tour is rushed, but if you ask questions the guide is more than happy to answer. and it is free. Their rums are incredible, and the taste testing is whatever you want to try. There are no pre-planned taste testing set-ups, and you can try as many rums and other libations as you want. We may be the only people who left Lynchburg without a bottle of whiskey but picked up 3 bottles of rum.

    Taste of Tennessee
Very unique place for a distillery. We enjoyed the tour that showcased what the building used to be and how it was being used now. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and we enjoyed tasting the different types of rum and whiskey. The Tennessee Whiskey was smooth and tasted good. My wife loved the Peach Rum.
