Piney Creek Falls, Tennessee, United States

4.5 (15 reviews) Spent 1-2 hours Ranking #4 in Spencer Waterfalls

Breathtaking views, under the falls.

The falls were extremely beautiful. When my husband and I started our hike, it was fairly simple. When we got to the sign for the loop, we took it right and were extremely grateful. Partly because it was marked better than the signs going left, but also, it was much easier to traverse down to go under the falls than it would have been to go up. Although the hike wasn't easy, more like moderate, it was completely worth it. We were able to go underneath the falls and take the falls in from that stand point. I will attach some pictures, but the falls were absolutely astonishing. Of all the falls we went to visit in the area, this was by far the best experience and scenery.

    Beautiful Falls
Best time to view this falls is before evening. The setting sun faces this fall, making getting great photos a little difficult. There is also a nice small suspension bridge nearby to cross as well.

    Wonderful Site from a Distance
The Piney Creek Falls are located in Fall Creek Falls State Park. On our two day trip to this amazing state park we visited all of the waterfalls and the golf course. The Piney Creek Falls can be observed from two observation points. We started our morning at the Fall Creek Falls parking lot. After observing the Fall Creek Falls we took the loop road to Piney Creek Falls. There are some very breath taking over looks you can pull off of this one way loop road to observe the Piney Creek and tree lined cliffs. Upon getting to the Piney Creek observation point there is no true parking lot. But there is ample room to pull off of the road and park. There are two signs posted one says to Suspension Bridge and the other says Piney Creek Falls trail (or something to that affect). We first selected to go to the fun part (the suspension bridge). On the short hike to the suspension bridge there is a wonderful but small fenced area with a sign denoting the Piney Creek Falls. It is the closest view we had of the falls. It is somewhat tree impeded but still a nice view of the falls. The suspension bridge is fairly long and really has no impact on your visitation to the falls but we enjoyed crossing it and hiking down to the creek and around the lower creek area. Upon finishing our time on this end of the Piney Creek falls observation area we took the other trail to the falls observation. This observation is located on a clear rock overlook. Again this was a short hike to the area. Both of these views of this waterfall allowed for different perspectives on this amazing natural wonder. These falls were observed from the greatest distance of any of the falls in the park. They were both worthy stops when in the park. They can be observed by most people although strollers and wheel chairs will be difficult to make the journey to these observation points.
