Great shows and classes

I have taken several jewelry-making classes at the Art Center. It has equipment available for use by members. Several shows are presented in the gallery throughout the year. The Holiday Gallery of Shops takes place in November, it is a great opportunity to shop for unique Christmas gifts made by the talented members of the center.

Quaint and Large for the Lover of Art
Although this museum is quaint in it's physical size it has a large reach in the art world. They have an annual art's competition that is judged by some of the most knowledgeable (curator's of museums, famous artists, etc). A really good place not only to view artistic works but also to take a class or get connected if you are moving into the area with your art. I was impressed coming from a big city, such as Dallas to see what they had done in this smaller "hometown" community. Kudos! Free to visit (donations accepted) - Parking lot provided.

    Christmas Creche Exhibit!
This was a very eclectic exhibit of creches including drawings, crochet, embroidery, sculpture, found objects, metal work and miniatures, There was folk art, whimsy, regional and international flavor as well as religious reverence. One of my favorites was a Texas piece complete with Stetson hats on the humans and an armadillo and horned toad in the barnyard. Not to be missed!
