Great little park
We were passing through the area on a cross-country road trip and thought we'd stop here to stretch our legs. We hit a local Wal-Mart and got some lunch items and found a picnic area near the lake to eat. It was so serene. Not another soul around. Just peace. We also stopped at the visitors center where they had a corn snake you could hold. My daughter is the thrill seeker of our group and was excited to hold it. The park ranger was very kind and gave us a lesson all about the snakes. We all enjoyed it. Worth a stop!

Probably should’ve visited in summer, but still had fun
We stayed at cabin #2, which was perfect because my kids had the playground in our backyard. The folks at the lodge couldn’t have been nicer to help us check in. There’s no WiFi or cell service or tv at the cub lake cabins, so excellent for unplugging. The cub lake cabins were probably built in the 80s or so, if I had to guess, nicely maintained. They are fine, a bit tired, not rustic and not fancy. I suspect this park with its beautiful lakes is a hit in the summer, but we managed to visit on an extremely rainy fall weekend.
