Hidden river

Make sure to take the hidden river trail. We came up on it by accident. What a delight. So quiet. We will go back.

A pleasant surprise at the Narrows of the Harpeth
In planning my route, I noticed Narrows of the Harpeth State Park along the way. I did a little research and discovered that the only icon on the state’s website was a boat ramp. With that being said, I didn’t know what to expect but I didn’t expect much. Boy was I wrong! The view from the bluffs was spectacular. This state park, while it doesn’t offer many picnic areas etc. has tranquil areas along the river to soak your feet in. Who says that a river has to have class 4s? This river can certainly wash the B.S. that accumulates from being in an office cubicle 40 hours per week. I definitely recommend this hidden jewel west of Nashville. Please be mindful that while its only .3 miles to the overlook, the trail is situated on a fairly steep hill.

    Tip-a-Canoe was great! Pack snacks/water!
Had a great experience with Tip-a-Canoe! Did the 2 hour float and it was very pleasant. Went with a 3 year old and 6 year old; the whole trip was very manageable. Definitely pack a cooler with snacks and drinks to put in the canoe. NOTE: Mention their website to get 20% of your canoe rental.
