We were there over a weekend so the courthouse was of course closed. The outside however is very cool. One of those old American towns that still honor their vets (to include the now unpopular Civil war) outside on their grounds. We love old buildings, I'd love to go back when everything is opened. Worth the stop!

A cute little tourist oriented village Court House and square.
Before you leave Lynchburg, one really should visit the County Courthouse and the Southern style town square in down town Lynchburg. It is one of the few town squares that is still vibrant and alive. There are plenty of restaurants and snack shops and the square is full of unique stores with lots of interesting items. Of course, all the citizens of this dry County are making their money off of selling Jack Daniels Whiskey paraphernalia to tourists. They have barrel ends, cakes, candies, recipe books, shirts, hats, posters .... you name it; all emblazoned with the Jack Daniels insignia. There is even a Jack Daniels motorcycle in one store. Hypocrisy is still alive....don't you just love this country.
