Don’t stay in A40/41- worst spots ever
Harrison Bay has always been one of my favorite camping destinations! Great waterfront spots, wildlife galore, and playing in the water! But this time has been the most disappointing time we ever have had. There is a very bright street lamp right over our spot A40/41 and it is daylight all the time. Campfire- a bust. Light is right over it so you never get to enjoy darkness for the evening. Then we have had to drape tablecloths multiple times over our camper just to have a little darkness in the camper. Bugs galore because they love the giant street lamp. Move the light to the wooded areas across from sites and put a cone so it illuminates up, not directly into campers and campsite. You go camping to enjoy all aspects of a day. Sunshine and play during the day, darkness and fire at night. But never happened. Worst experience I have ever had camping!

    Nice Park But.....
As with most state parks, you get to see and experience the"best" of what an area has to offer. Harrison Bay State Park is no exception. With it's nicely laid out camping and amenities areas, there is something for everyone. This park however is exceptional if you love water. There are some of the nicest places to swim, fish or just enjoy a float in the water. While there is a considerable amount of boat traffic to and from the lake, for a body of water this size, it really isn't that bad. Just be aware of the additional traffic and noise that you can expect from it. One other thing to consider is the camping area you choose. While most of the areas are rather tight, they appear to be set up for easy entry and exit. The only exception to this is area "B". We choose this area when we made our reservation, and honestly, were sorry we did. Navigating a 35+ foot RV in this area can be problematic. Likewise. as if navigation wasn't a big enough problem, the campsites are grossly unlevel. Be prepared for LOTS of blocking to get level. For obvious reasons, these sites were set up as pull-through sites, but I believe they were originally designed for much smaller campers. It is physically impossible to make a turn between some of the trees and other obstacles when using an RV on some of the sites here. We had to maneuver 180 degrees around and back into the site in order to use our bump outs. As you might imagine, doing so reversed where our hookups were located only compounding the problem. Other than the physical problems encountered, the staff here is super friendly and helpful. The other really nice thing is the wildlife that we encountered. Be prepared to have lots of deer make their daily trek through or near your campsite. We saw so many we stopped counting. The other thing to be very aware of is the abundance of law-enforcement seen in the park. With as many people and animals we saw here the need for speed control is obvious. We noticed MANY people being stopped for whatever reasons so keep the posted speed limit in mind when driving through the park.
