    Gotta Go to Graceland
My friend and I were in Memphis to see Graceland during the "bomb-cyclone" that hit around Christmas and things didn't work out as planned. Thank goodness we had Ultimate VIP tour tickets so we got rescheduled after it was closed on our tour day due to weather. Graceland had a delayed opening on 12/24/22 (they're usually closed no matter) to make up for the horrible weather and cancellations from day before. ANYWAY, we finally got in and they transferred our Ultimate VIP tickets from the cancelled 12/23 to 12/24 tour. It was crazy for them since there was a mess of people trying to get refunded or reschedule because of the earlier closing. Our personal tour guide for the day was Kristyn M. and what a joy she was!! Such a positive and upbeat mood and her patience that day was unbelievable, even with those not on our tour who just came and asked random questions of her. Her knowledge of all things Elvis was amazing and she was just such a joy to be around! If you have the extra money and love Elvis I definitely recommend getting the UVIP tickets because you get extra little visits around Graceland and your own guided tour so it's well worth it! Kristyn made our time so fun and I can't thank her enough!!

We were somewhat disappointed with the professionalism of the staff
So many reviews have been written about Graceland, we’ll just give you the common pitfalls. First, they told us on the phone that it’s not necessary to buy tickets in advance because they never sell out unless you want a specific time to tour the mansion. That’s half true, we arrived at 11:00 a.m. and got a mansion tour at 1:45 p.m. So, regardless of how long we WANTED to stay, we were stuck there until about 4:00 p.m. Don’t get us wrong, we loved this venue, but, of course it’s a tourist trap. Just a note, when your time comes to go to the mansion, you don’t go to the mansion; you line up to see an Elvis promotional movie. So you wait two or three fillings of the movie theater until you watch the movie and then get to wait for the shuttle bus to the mansion. They take a picture of you and when you come back they have the pictures on various backgrounds of the venue which you can choose from for $34.00. Incidentally, the iPad I was given for the tour didn’t work. The graves of Elvis and his family have plastic flowers. I’m being negative. The planes and all of the Elvis memorabilia was fabulous and the tickets are well worth the money. The cars and outfits are worth the money alone. We had fun, but plan on it being more like a day at the state fair with lots of walking, lots of people, and somewhat of a hustle. This venue got a 4/5 because it does not meet the standards of Disney World or our National Parks as you would expect taking in at over one million visitors a year at an average of $200 a couple. The air conditioning was off in the building, pick up the trash and also throw a coat of paint on the mansion. Priscilla, if you are reading this, hire a new curator and build a foot bridge over to the mansion with a buck or two from the million visitors; get rid of the shuttle buses and put fresh flowers on Elvis’s grave every day. You can tell I was a little mixed on this one.
