Nice Short Side Trail!
Hike 2.6 miles along the Cooper Road Trail from Abrams Creek Campground to reach the junction with The Gold Mine Trail. The Gold Mine trail is 0.8 miles and has an elevation gain of 300 feet. This trail would be considered easy to moderate by Smoky Mountain Standards. This trail is recommended during all seasons. About half way along this trail you will come to a really nice Rhododendron Tunnel. There are sections along this trail that are somewhat steep and eroded, so pay attention to your footing. The trail ends in 0.8 miles at the Park boundary and a trail sign. This is a nice short side trail.
