Sunday Drive | Short Scenic Trail

We were purposefully looking for a shorter and easier pathway with some good scenery since we were including my 87 year old (very good health) mom for our Sunday outing. The reviews indicated that this stop along the Natchez Trace Parkway good fit the bill. We were not disappointed. Although we didn’t venture all the way to the bottom of the pathway/ravine — there was plenty to see and hear at the midway point without placing anyone in danger. No picnic tables, trash cans nor rest rooms. Just well marked parking and quick access to the trail head.

    An unexpected pleasure
We were driving along the Nachez Trace Parkway in Hohenwald, TN and came across a small parking lot and a sign. Looked promising, so we stopped. We heard water in the distance and started walking along a trail on the left side of the parking lot. We came to a small waterfall, which ran under the walking bridge. "Nice, but not much to look at", I thought. We heard more water and ventured on. The ground turned into a ravine, with a large waterfall and various trails which led to the foot of the waterfall below. Those who couldn't traverse the steep trails could stay on the railed platforms above and look down to the water. All-in-all, pretty nice and free to boot.
