Great family vacation and break from non-stop Covid Headlines
Fall Creek Falls is up on the Cumberland Plateau and is usually about ten degrees cooler than Central Florida, so it is a great place to go to get away from the heat. We stayed in the Fisherman Villas, which are located over the lake and you can fish off the back porch. The sunrises and sunsets were amazing. We rented a kayak and paddle board all day ($35 ea.) and explored most of the large lake. The villas are spacious (3 bed/2 bath/fireplace) and the beds were comfortable. There were plenty of hiking trails and ability to take long walks for exercise or leisure. They are scheduled to finish construction of a new conference center/Inn by 2021 sometime.

    Impressive falls, nice lodge
Fall Creek Falls has a new lodge that is lovely and the restaurant overlooks the lake. The menu was limited when we were there, but hopefully, more choices have been added. The Falls are quite impressive, particularly after heavy rains, but if you want to go to the base of the falls, be prepared for the rigorous hike back up!!! I don't recommend it for the faint of heart or those who have a sedentary life style. If you don't want to stay in the lodge, there are fisherman cabins that extend over the lake, making it handy to fish without leaving your lodging...except there were flooded in the unusually heavy rains and have not been accepting reservations when we were there.
