Empire Theatres 8, Tennessee, United States

4.5 (11 reviews) Spent 1-2 hours Ranking #2 in Jackson Movie Theaters

Love Empire!!

My family and I loved our experience at Empire Theatre. The Theatre stays clean and well maintained. We can always find the movie we like and love the popcorn and drinks! I really like the fact that there are trays with cup holders for the reclining seats. We have now become regular patrons. My daughter likes to hit up the arcade each visit as well. It just always ends up being a good family outing when we need to relax and watch the latest New Release. It simply is better in atmosphere, staff, and cleanliness compared to any of the other movie theatres nearby.

Such a great experience!! Highly recommend!
We love this place! It’s such a nice theater with great food, extremely clean (bathrooms, too), big seats, comfortable and great selection of movies. It’s location is perfect - next to loads of shopping and restaurants. We love doing family outings here and are so glad there’s a nice theater in Jackson now. Highly recommend!!

Great, Modern Facility - But There Are Some Downsides...
I was pretty hyped to hear about a modern, comfort-focused cinema coming to Jackson. God knows we've needed some updates in that area. I've now been to the Empire 8 twice, and...I guess my experiences have been a mixed bag. The facility is very nice. Clean, comfortable, lots of space, reclining wide seats, quality video and audio. I like that I can order online and choose my seat. You can order food that can be delivered to your seat in the theater, and there are mostly unobtrusive tables you can swing around to use to eat, and swing away when you are done eating. You can also order fresh draft beer. The true issues come with the service. This theater seems to employ exclusively teenagers. I honestly wonder if the manager is a teenager, too. My last visit, I went online to order my ticket; and I saw a promotion for a rewards card that provided free items with enough purchases. All I had to do was print out a form and bring it to the theater. So, on the day of the movie, I walk in, print out my ticket, and proceed to the ticket-taker (a teenager). He takes my ticket; and when I hand him the application form, he just kinda stares at it confusedly. "I'll...make sure someone gets this," and he places it on the podium. I proceed to the concession bar. I'm surprised to find that there are at least four teenagers working the concessions, despite this being at matinee time with few actual guests. Deciding I want to see what the food is all about, I order a chili cheese hot dog and a small draft Yeungling. I read on the computer read-out "cheese dog" or something to that effect. I remind the girl that "it's a chili cheese dog, right?" and she confirms that it is. The price is over 16 dollars. Meanwhile, I get tapped on the shoulder; and the kid from the ticket podium tells me my rewards card is ready to go and hands it to me. I ask him if I can use it now, and he says I can. Good, I think; and I have the girl run the card so I can start collecting points. "It says the card isn't activated yet." I sigh and put the card in my wallet (maybe next time?) One of the snickering, joking teenagers in the back pours my beer. Man, these workers joke around a lot. So, I confirm that they'll bring me my hot dog in the movie theater; and they say they will. I find my seat relatively easily, but the rows are organized by letters; and the letters can be pretty hard to find. I ended up just counting to E. Anyway, I sit down; and it is as comfortable as I remember. I have plenty of room, even if people sit next to me. Things are going well, I think. And sure enough, here comes the guy with my hot dog. He gives it to me, and I take the sight in. A hot dog with cheese, no chili (and no fork). My review is honestly closer to a 3.5 than a 4, but I'll round up. This is a new theater, and they need to work out the service kinks. Please, train your workers. Supervise them a little bit. Don't let the great foundation you have go to waste.
