Visited this bridge with a friend live in town.
Our friend, born and raised in this town gave us a tour of the town after eating lunch in a cafe downtown. A lot of history here, bridge built on 1800’s. No longer strong enough for driving across, but you can walk over. This bridge is over the Doe River. You can walk here from the downtown area , which is also a neat place to visit the shops there.

    Adorable Country Town . . .
Elizabethton is an adorable country town with the Covered Bridge in the center. Unfortunately, I meant to go back and get a picture and did not remember. The town is full of history from the Civil War. The Town also offers some nice antique shopping and specialty shops to browse. One in particular is in the middle of town on the South side of the Main Street. Across from the main antique store, with another on the corner. It's a little specially shop in the front selling loads of candy and sweets. In the back is one of the few public bathrooms and several lunch tables. This is a hidden gem. Not only is it a mystery, because I can't even remember the name of the place, but they serve wonderful sandwiches. Soups and salads are also available. The bread is baked fresh daily from a small bakery and is delicious. That day I had their chicken salad sandwich and my daughter had their tuna salad sandwich. They were both exceptional! You could pick a bag of chips of your choice, but for drinks they offered old fashioned glass bottles out of the machine of any flavor you could imagine. Really like a trip down memory lane! Desserts were also plentiful. Lots of cute items in the shop made by local artists and designers. Definitely a stop worth making when your in the area!
