East Tennessee Distillery, Tennessee, United States

WORTH A STOP!

This was a great way to spend an hour - especially with someone new to moonshine. Even though it is located at the back of a small industrial area, the distillery has signs to guide you all the way in. The tasting counter was clean & adequate & the server was friendly & knowledgeable about the products. We were able to sample 4 varieties of moonshine from their abundant list. My favorite was the cinnamon roll - nothing like cinnamon whiskey, but warm & comforting like a cinnamon roll fresh from the oven. I also liked the strawberry & banana, but found the watermelon quite unpleasant. They offer a discount for the purchase of multiple bottles or jars. On this recent visit, they were apologetic for having to use plastic bottles for their product as their supplier cannot currently get the glass they have always used for packaging. I will definitely return to try additional varieties next time I have an hour free around Piney Flats.

We were out for a day of motorcycle riding . . . Enjoyed all that Tennessee is famous for . . . Bristol Motor Speedway, twisty roads, great barbeque, and moonshine . . . all in one day. Our group of 8 were given a warm welcome, tour & explanation of the processing, bottling and corking of the moonshine. We sampled the various flavors and purchased our favorites. A definite "must" when we return to that area!!!!

    Legal Moonshine?
What a nice time we had visiting "Tiny" and Dorothy! Tiny (Tom Roberson) is the distiller/owner who just happens to be around 6'-6" ... not so "tiny" and is a wonderful character - the face of the place. We got in at opening time and since no one else was around yet he gave us a private tour and explained everything. Moonshine can now been made legally in Tennessee and that made him decide to open a licensed distillery. Moonshine is an interesting taste experience with a unique taste and comes in ranges all the way to 150 proof! My wife and I enjoyed a free sampling of the products - wonderfully infused with different natural flavours. We bought the coconut, caramel and the honey /ginseng flavours, but you can also get it unflavoured. They have won a Platinum Award at an international competition so you know it is a great product. We highly recommend a visit! Use your GPS - when we got there we only saw a small sign and had to drive right to the back. Worth the visit! Thank you Tiny and Dorothy!
