Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Tennessee, United States

4.5 (5 reviews) Saturday: Spent Ranking #12 in Greeneville Churches & Cathedrals

CPC

The cannon ball in the exterior wall was a highlight. The church is beautiful. The stair cases are lovely, but not conducive for any one that cannot walk or climb. They do have an elevator.

The Cannonball Church - Historically Impressive
A Civil War cannonball is embedded in the brick wall just above and to the right of the front door that faces Main Street. Historical plaques nearby relate the story of the day it happened: When Confederate General John Hunt Morgan was killed by Union troops.

    A Historic building in Greeneville
We were tourists in Greeneville recently. My husband is a pianist who likes to see what other churches play on. This church is interesting in that the sanctuary is upstairs, and meeting rooms are on street level (it has an elevator). I was raised Cumberland Presyterian, so I found this church building to be quite a contrast to what I grew up with. It makes me appreciate my Cumberland Presbyterian heritage a bit more.
