A Must See

The Buford Pusser Home and Museum stands as a moment in time, as if waiting for Sheriff Buford Pusser to return home from another shift serving the public. The modest brick ranch home contains the original furnishings, photos, cars, guns and memorabilia of the Pusser family. Buford Pusser was the subject of several major motion pictures. The "Walking Tall" movies tell about his life and tragic death.

    Interesting Tennessee History
I have heard of the original Waking Tall movie for years, and hadn’t ever watched it. The Covid lockdown provided the opportunity to watch, and I was pleasantly surprised to learn it was based in Tennessee! I decided to visit the museum, and am so happy I did. The hostess, Tina, was a wealth of information, took great pride in what she does, and is a great representation of Southern hospitality! The museum is incredibly informative and paints a more in-depth picture of the legend that was Buford Pusser. A true American hero. Thank you for your service, sir; and thank you to his museum for affording future generations the opportunity to learn about him. PS Buy a t-shirt. They are really great quality (Comfort Colors) and they enable you to spread the word about the museum!

Must see for Walking Tall fans
The Buford Pusser museum captures a moment in time providing a snapshot of life of the south in the 70's. Inside the museum are original furnishings and mementos from Buford and his family. Admission is $7.00 (credit cards accepted) and once in you view a eight minute video of Buford and his life. Photos ok, no video. The home is actually pretty big and you see every room. The downstairs is where Buford mainly lived and stayed as his mom lived upstairs and him down after his wife was killed. Most everything of Bufords is in the museum. Everything from the shoes he wore when he died to his 8-track tapes. Adamsville is located two hours from Memphis, two-and-a-half hours from Nashville and ninety minutes from Tupelo, MS. Hours are Mon-Fri 11am-5pm, Sat 9am-5pm and Sunday 1pm-5pm.At the end of the guided tour there's a little gift shop with some cool things to buy. I actually bought a Walking Tall stick. I loved the 1973 movie starring Joe Don Baker. The Pusser gravesite is about one mile from the home. If your in the area top in and check out a bit of history.
