Family Fun on the Cumberland River

We were in the Nashville area for a wedding and wanted something that family members from three generations could experience. We signed up for the kids morning cruise with Captain Jim not certain what to expect. It was awesome for all! The kids were entertained with water guns, bubble makers, balloons, snacks and drinks. At our stop on the private island, we all were able to get into the river and cool off (temperatures were in the 100s while in the area). The kids paddled kayaks while the adults cooled off with a swim. On the return trip each of the kids was given a turn at the wheel. The cost was only $11 per person!

One of Cheatham County's Best-Kept Secrets!
Captain Jim & his Blue Heron Cruises up and down The Cumberland is one of Cheatham County's best kept secrets. He's an AWESOME guide... a ton of fun and well-worth your time. Whether it's a family/kid-friendly outing... or a "kid-free" cruise for the adults... it is always time well-spent. Book a cruise today. You won't be disappointed.

    Great Priced Attraction
While visiting Nashville we took advantage of a beautiful day to cruise on the Cumberland River out of Ashland City, TN. It was not a fancy cruise but a very relaxed casual setting on a very quite pontoon with the very enjoyable Captain Jim. We were shocked at the very reasonable price ($11/adult, $9/child) for a 90 min. nature ride. On board, along with a bathroom, are available snacks, drinks, sunscreen, kid entertainment items, all included! We saw turtles lounging in the sun on dead tree branches and several herons flying across the river ahead of the boat. A short recording at the beginning gives you info on the river (also known as Cheatham Lake) and people who settled there. A variety of music also plays in the background. A variety of toys were provided for a small member on the boat who was very entertained with bubbles, balls, nets, and balloons. All in all, a great cruise at a great price!
