Bee Rock Overlook, Tennessee, United States

4.5 (28 reviews) Monday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Ranking #2 in Monterey Lookouts

Definitely Worth Visiting for the View

First, this is not a hike. But, if you are in the area I would definitely recommend a stop to see it. It's a short drive from the interstate exit. From the parking area, it's an easy 1/2 mile walk to the lookout. Make sure you have a hold of any little ones because it's a long fall off the side of the lookout. Great view!

    Dangerous
Beautiful views but it has no safety ropes or rails Probably over a thousand foot drop On to rocks and trees. Not a safe place to visit. It is privately owned and you can go but look up the times, because you will be ran off if you show up earlier than posted or later than posted. We went and ask permission and was allowed to see it. It is really beautiful, but yet again very dangerous.

A short hike to a nice view and spectacular cliff
Bee Rock is a nice, little known view of the surrounding valley/mini-gorge on private property. The hike is only 0.6 miles, with a slight uphill grade until you get to Bee Rock and have a short but mildly steep climb to the top. Stay away from the edge is you have a fear of heights or vertigo. There are no rails, or warning signs. Bee Rock is a beautiful view and doesn't require any agility or endurance to reach. Go through the gate at the end of the parking lot, and behind the barn to the path. DO NOT take the remnants of Bee Rock Rd. to the right of the parking lot. It is also an uphill trail (about 1.5 miles long), but will not take you to Bee Rock! Follow the owner's rules, and do not stay after dark or litter/vandalize. We don't want visiting privileges taken away!
