A must-visit site for lovers of the Blues and BBQ!!
We were in Memphis in early October on a Friday and Saturday, so had occasion to visit Beale Street twice. We are very much into blues music, so Beale Street was a must-visit site. That said, one must be aware of what else is happening in the area. There was a basketball game at the nearby Fedex Forum so the surrounding streets were congested and parking was at a premium; fortunately we found a parking garage for a flat $20 for the evening. And the $5 cover charge and strict security protocols (put in place early in the summer of 2022) was still in force during our visit. Despite our love of music, the lines to get into any given club were too long to wait. We decided to just stroll and enjoy the sights before we chose a restaurant for dinner. We returned to Beale Street the following day to stroll once again and to have lunch.

Ok but nothing to write home about.
First time to Memphis. We were excited to experience Beale street. Underwhelmed with the amount of live music especially since there was a Grizzlies game. We expected more nightlife etc. Area seems run down. Cover charges after 7pm with limited live music options.
