Striking liberty statue
This bronze statue is a hero statue for the White soldiers who died in the 1918 Civil War. The statue by a known Finnish sculptor Viktor Jansson (the father of author Tove Jansson) was revealed in 1921 in the Town Hall Park. The statue depicts a nude male figure. The model was the young Elias Simelius who was later renamed Elias Simojoki, a priest and Member of Parliament as an IKL activist.
