Lahti Ski Museum, Tavastia Proper, Finland

4.5 (86 reviews) Monday: Spent Ranking #5 in Lahti Speciality Museums

The inner child will love it.

A fantastic little museum. The staff were great. Especially the young guy who explained to me and my son in English and Finnish what was there to see, how to interact with things and even took pics for us. My boy loved the interaction part and so did I. The ski jumping figures were my boys favourite. Mine was the shooting! I got 127m on the ski jumping simulator once too. Thats harder than it looks. The exhibitions are well kept, informed and very nice. Bit small but was free for my boy so I was happy with that. Go enjoy!

Museum for ski jumping, downhill and cross-country skiing
There is little bit history of skiing, but majority of museum is built around olympic and world championship games. You can see old photographs, clothes, skis and medals won by Finnish athletes. They have ski jumping simulators and you can try yourself how good you are with ski jumping. They have shooting simulator also and this is pretty fun.

    Winter ski simulator centre
We though this ski museum, situated next to the famous winter ski centre in Lahti, would be a normal museum. Instead of (or maybe more like: in addition to) we found a collection of winter ski sports simulators and ended up spending a fun few hours in this "museum". We tried the ski jump, biathlon and cross country skiiing simulators. The museum hosts were kindly showing us all the time how to use the simulators. A great place especially for families with kinds and fun to get to try the winter ski sports in the middle of August.
