Beautiful building and park
The park and the City Hall are located half-way when you are climbing from the Railway Station to the city center. This Jugend-style building is designed by the renowned architect Eliel Saarinen. It was built in 1912. City Hall is the hub for decision-making in Lahti, housing the functions related to the city's governance and development. We didn't go inside. There was a sign that you have to register yourself to the doorman.

Prestigious architecture - Eliel Saarinen
This house will be visited from further afield. Cafe / canteen on a flat lunch dining level. Guided tours worth a visit - available in several languages, guides professional. Interiors/exteriors worth seeing ... Some of the porters could be more friendly and take their customers into account: indoors, the sound of conversation and the voice of the conversation carries farther than you think - the criticism and other unnecessary buzz of fellow human beings could be left at home ...

This city hall location is between Lahti Railway station to center
If you arrival in Lahti by train, and walking through the Rautatienkatu to center, then you will see it on your left hand side, during summer time, the city hall has few time open to public so you can go inside to visit. The new year fireword usually will show from there.
