Forty four South Village_adjacent to 101 building in Xin-yi district
I have always liked it here, the tiny traditional houses across the street from the world trade center is such a contrast. I love this little wonderland that is being preserved by the city, keeping the past while we are moving forward at the same time. Although it's quite a small village, there are gift shops, cafe, a museum that exhibits old furniture and pictures that tells you the story of forty four south village. There are often flea market or fair held in the plaza, it's fun to walk around here and when you get tired you can go indoor for refreshments.

Reminder of times past
Four Four South Village is one of the few military dependents villages remaining in Taiwan. The villages housed military families. The villages were very shoddily built, because they were intended to be temporary, until Chiang Kai-shek "retook the mainland." It never happened. All that remains of this ambition is the Four Four South Village. It's well worth a look, it has a retail outlet and a museum, amongst other things.

Nice weekend market
We took a nice and easy walk on a Saturday to Sisinancun from our hotel which took about 20 mins. Along the way, we passed Taipei 101 and took the opportunity to take some photos of the iconic building. It is quite easy to find Sisinancun as it is next door to the Adidas basketball court so if you see Adidas, just head towards there. It is a small place but has a few interesting nooks and crannies, especially if you like to take photos! There is a parent child centre which had something in progress when we went so we didn't go in. I love the stalls in the main courtyard; most of the stall holders sold vintage clothes, shoes and bags. I love vintage and I must say the quality was good and each had their own curated pieces. I was impressed that many of the pieces were clean, nicely ironed and did not smell! I had to control myself and only bought one vintage dress! The stall holders were all friendly. There were a few more shops inside the buildings including the Midori ice cream shop. We didn't actually have any but there was quite a few people. All in all if you have some time to kill and want to take some photos, this is a good place to comes down spend about an hour or so. As one of my teenage daughters said 'this is a place for Taipei's hipsters to hang out!' However there isn't much covered area so perhaps not too good if it rains. Were were fortunate the weather was dry and cool!
