National Taiwan Museum, Taipei, Taiwan
4.0 (357 reviews) Monday: Spent Ranking #15 in Zhongzheng District Speciality Museums
Diverse Collection
This was my first stop to escape the heat from the Taipei afternoon. Admission was a bargain at 30NTD and included the Land Bank Exhibition Hall across the street. Once past admissions I entered the center of the museum where the beautiful ceiling soared three stories above. Just remember to look up. The museum displayed a mixture of exhibits that included: Made in Taiwan Ethnic indigenous Taiwanese people Native Plants and animals Ordinary life in Taiwan Japanese curators who collected many of the museum’s specimens Sealife Dinosaurs Children hands on exhibits were located in the basement with low ceilings. Maybe 6 feet high in some areas. Overall a good museum to stop and see.

Taiwan's oldest museum
The National Taiwan Museum was established in 1908. It is the only museum from the Japanese colpnial era (1895-1945) still on its original site. It was known as the Taiwan Provincial Museum until 1999. The National Taiwan Museum has been renovated several times, most recently in 2017. It is now part of the National Taiwan Museum System, The fee to enter the National Taiwan Museum is nominal. It is my favourite museum, it's easy to get to and the exhibits are quite fascinating.
