Svalbard Adventures, Svalbard, Norway

4.5 (393 reviews) Wednesday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent Ranking #4 in Spitsbergen 4WD, ATV & Off-Road Tours • Boat Tours • Hiking & Camping Tours • Private Tours • Nature & Wildlife Tours

The only company to use on Svalbard!

I couldn't recommend Svalbard Adventures enough. We did two snowmobiling trips them and both were great. The first trip was the wild fjords trip which was a great introduction to snowmobiling and the second was a trip to Barentsburg. We booked the Barentsburg trip the night before after their office had closed and it wasn't a problem. On both occasions, we were picked up on time by friendly guides who then explained the route we were going to take and a safety briefing. The protective clothing was clean and fresh, not smelly or ripped. The snowmobiling suits are extremely warm as are the boots. I'd recommend bringing glove liners but the handlebars of the snowmobile are heated. Both snowmobiles I drove were new and had just been serviced. On both trips the guides stopped to show landmarks and wildlife and to allow for pictures. It is clear the guides are passionate about Svalbard and were full of knowledge not written in books or online. The trip to Barentsburg was full on and took around 3 hours each way and I wouldn't recommend this if it is your first time snowmobiling. I can't thank Timo and the other guides enough for making the trips so enjoyable. I would not hesitate in recommending Svalbard Adventures.

    Svalbard Adventures Rock!
Basically Svalbard Adventures are an amazing company with whom to go exploring Svalbard! Mostly this is down to the amazing people. Whether it was Teemu, one of the coolest guys ever!, or Amallie on the Barentsburg trip or Linde, Lars(who will be a great guide when he finishes his training) or the fabulously lovely Franke, liebe Franke, on the East Coast tour they were all just so easy to get along with and made the trips really special. And that is partly in comparison to going on trips with other companies on Svalbard and with other trips in other parts of the world. As a guide working for another company said, Svalbard Adventures have the best bikes! But they also have the best insurance policy and will charge you significantly less if you somehow damage the snow bike. On top of which they have a much more understanding attitude to damage in the sense that they get it that sometimes it might go a little wrong but if you have done everything they told you then they take a sensible view on damages. Fortunately I didnt have to test that but I did have issues with another provider. A big thing for me in comparison to other providers is that Svalbard Adventures turn up at your accommodation on time, if not before, which is is very worthy of mention in my book The only issue I would raise is that I had been on the Barentsburg trip on April 21st and then went on the East Coast tour on April 22nd but had talked to Bjorn on evening of April 21st about refunding the passenger fare for the East Coast tour, for safety concerns, and this was greed but I am still waiting to receive that refund. Seems a bit long. Overall I have no hesitation in recommending Svalbard Adventures!
