Tabut, Festifal besar di Bengkulu

One of the oldest festivals in Indonesia. This Islamic ceremonial festival has been celebrated since the 14th century by the people of Bengkulu City. With the regular traditional and cultural events, the highlight is the parade. Known as the festival of 50 towers (tabots), local people build these towers out of bamboo, colourful paper and garish decoration. Paraded through the city into the night, this is an impressive way to witness the super colourful and elaborate artistic talents of the Indonesian people.
