Nice lake

I've been with local guide Rapani. It was a pleasure to swim there after climbing Kerinci volcano. The trek is easy. It s possible to rent a canoe.

Steady climb, lovely forest, great lake view
We enjoyed our hike up Danau Gunung Tujuh. We did the walk without the use of a guide and had no problems. We set off from the ticket office at 9am after paying the park entry fee of 50k each. The walk starts off nice and gentle on a wide track until reaching a small mosque, then it becomes a well maintained concrete path with steps. Once this ends it's onto the harder climb on forest tracks over tree roots and rocks, still pretty steady compared to some of the tougher, less walked climbs we did in Sumatra! *TOP TIP! At the end of the concrete path if you look around either side of the railings you might be lucky enough to find a stack of wooden walking sticks left by previous walkers, we grabbed one each and found them really helpful, and replaced them on our return. The climb and short decent to the lake took us just over three hours with a few water breaks and a while watching the gibbons taking breakfast in the tree tops! The lake view was fabulous. We stopped for lunch at the lakeside. Shortly after it started to rain so we didn't hang around and headed back along the same route we came up. One major point of disappointment was the amount of litter and rubbish we saw. Along every step of the path there was litter and at various points piles of rubbish had been dumped and some partially burnt. This was a real shock to us as we are nature lovers and always take our rubbish home with us. I couldn't believe that people would come to a place with such amazing natural beauty and tarnish it with rubbish. Very sad.
