An oase in a hot city
A greeny place in a hot city. It is poor maintained. It could be better presented with great history behind.

The Centre of a Lost Kingdom
In the 7th century Palembang became the capital of Sriwijaya, a maritime empire of international importance, sending embassies and trade missions all the way to China. Though 26 meter tall Bukit Siguntang is hardly an impressive peak by international standards, it was probably the ceremonial centre of Sriwijaya, boasting monasteries, temples and stupas on its peak, the last of these surviving being destroyed during roadworks in the Dutch era of the 1920s. Today, only a few sultans' and generals' tombak survive as a trace of its former significance. Still, for the history buff, this is an important place of memory.
