Fortunate visit
Few parts of the exhibition hall were close for maintenance that day. It was OK to visit the rest of the museum. The great part was when we were around the Rumah Limas, one of the officer was there. He greeted us. He then invited us into the house. He mention that the house was closed for public for sometime. We were so lucky, even the locals that with me never able to enter the house before. Sadly some the figurine within the museum compound were broken and not well maintain. A typical Indonesian thing.

Historical museum
Balaputra Dewa Museum is a public museum which stores historical and cultural objects of South Sumatra. Entrance fee is very cheap. You can find Limas House, which picture can be found in Indonesias bank note (IDR 10,000).

Worth visiting!
It is a bit out of the way but worth visiting if you have half a day to spare in Palembang to discover the history of South Sumatera. The prehistoric stone-carved artifacts at the back are a huge, unexpexted treat! They’ve done a good job for the cultural displays as well (tools, basketry etc). There are also 2 antique timber houses that were unfortunately not open for visit when we were there.
