Almost a private lake
Beautiful little lake with picnicking areas, walking/exercise path, pavilion for gatherings. Eventhough this is park of the large National Park known as Chickasaw National Recreation Area, it feels almost like a private lake. Most folks go to Lake of the Arbuckles at this Park for boating, fishing and camping. But Veteran's Lake is excellent for day use and smaller boats. Also, during the recent flooding of May and June 2015, this lake stayed open. Lake of the Arbuckles had to close due to safety concerns and property damage issues.

Paved 3 mile around lake
Picnic areas and trails all around lake. Boat dock available. Pavillons available with grills. Campsites.

Nice little lake
Veteran's Lake has held up well through the drought. One of its best features is the approximately 3 mile long trail around it's edge; the other an abundance of places to picnic, a covered pavilion, and plenty of restrooms. It's not the place to go if you want to swim, but it's wonderful for a walk, a cook-out, or a picnic. I'm not a fisherperson, but there are usually a few folks out fishing, too.
