5point Review: My first picnic spot in Scotland and man, I loved the place. 1. Thumbs up: We drove from galsgow and drove all around the lake. Scenery is absolutely breathtaking. We got down at Tarbet pier, (that place also has stunning views, nice spots to lie around and have a good picnuc) to take a cruise. (Loch Lomond Cruise) Cruise was okay, but exploring the scenery from the middle of the lake was good. The guide/captain did a good commentary although most of it was lost in the noise. During return we stopped at Luss village. Nice beautiful beach, a diving spot to jump in the cold water and watersports. The speed boat ride was much more fun than the cruise. 2. Thumbs down : If you are a tourist and self driving then God bless you. This lake is huge and google will lead you in middle of nowhere .Hey google, do you hear that? Atleast update your maps to lead us to some beach or pier. To find any activity or beach you have to type speific spots (Tarbet, Luss etc.) It was hard locating places for watersports. We visited 3 spots and finally found one in luss that was just about closing. And no jet skis for rent? Seriously?? There were tens of people doing jetski but they were all private. I was gutted at not being able to get a jet ski in this paradise. Loch Lomond watersports people are you listening?? 3. Wow factor : If chilling (I mean literally chilling by swimming in the crystal clear but cold water of this lake) in the lap of nature, (with additional options of some watersports, boating etc) and soothing your soul with some paradisical scenery is your things then this is the place. Just wow 4. Money Matters : Cruise was 12 pounds per pax. Speed boat 100 pounds for 10 pax. You choose whether you like it fast or slow. We tried both and enjoyed both. And yeah the beach, scenery, lake all come for free. Humans charge us for services Nature doesnt? 5. 5point Experience : I have already described in detail my whole awe of this place. A Hike Along Loch Lomond
The West Highland Way travels along the shore of Loch Lomond for at least one full day of hiking. From what we saw, the Loch was very beautiful and pleasant. However, since most of our day's hike was in a torrential rain downpour, we did not see too much of the Loch and missed much of its charm. Unfortunately, our time schedule and itinerary prevented us from either "sitting-out" the rain or doubling back in nicer weather to see what we had missed. As always when hiking in Scotland, you are at the mercy of the weather!
