Museu do Futebol, State of Sao Paulo, Brazil

4.5 (9.504 reviews) Monday: Spent 1-2 hours Ranking #36 in Sao Paulo Speciality Museums

Quite interesting, if you are in São Paulo, you should visit it

Besides telling the history of Brazilian football, the Football Museum, located at Pacaembu Stadium, in São Paulo – foretells Brazil's history. In a playful, fun and very motion way, our visitor is going to understand the reason why football is within all of us. The museum has its visitation routine based on three pillars: emotion, history and on having fun. Pictures, videos, audios and interactivity are the formula that is enthralling visitors. One of the means by narrating such happenings is right from videos, pictures and so on sensorial experiences.

Great place if you love football
I have been here 7 or 8 times, virtually every time I am in Sao Paulo. My boys love it here. Different sections from traditional to modern, some interactive stuff for the kids, many videos from all World Cups and from the Brazilian superstars of football (Pele, Ronaldo, Garrincha etc.). The museum is in the Arena Pacaembu, a beautiful, old stadium in the middle of the city. There is a museum shop which has the best collection of retro-football-shirts from all over the world which I have seen so far.

    Neat and diverse museum
We took the subway Line 2 to get to the museum and got off at station Clinicas. From there, the museum is located in walking distance of about 15-20 minutes. It might be a bit tricky to finally get to the museum on foot but the surrounding area is fairly safe and thus could be an option apart from taking a taxi or Uber. Be aware that you don't get a physical ticket at the ticket office. Just head to the museum's entrance once you paid and confirm your payment orally towards the staff. The musem is split into 3 floors. It starts with the development and background of Brazilian football, visualises the most memorable moments of Brazil's football (including short portraits of some of the most formative players) and ends with a more interactive part where you can shoot at a goal yourself or play table football e.g. I liked the structure and diverse set-up of the museum. The content is provided in writing, on screens as well as through audio elements. Unfortunately, only a small part of the information provided by the museum has been translated into English. Your visit would be definitely more interesting if you understand Portuguese.
