Great lagoon to cycle around - 7km
The Lagoa as it is known in Rio is great to cycle around - we hired bicycles from our hotel in Ipanema. There is a bicycle path all around the lagoon and it is an easygoing flat 7km tour. We enjoyed a great lunch as well at restaurant Gratini near the finish point of the Olympic rowing course which is still there.

The lagoon was one of the first things we saw as we neared our hotel from the taxi from the airport. We later visited the lagoon from our hotel in Ipanema, we also drove past it several times when we took the Uber. In the morning we saw a lot of people rowing boats like they were training for the Olympics. When we visited in the afternoon it was more quieter. However it is worth a walk, you can sit down to eat and drink as you watch the joggers and cyclists go past. It also has nice views of the mountains.
