Not as 'local', but just as fun!
Having roamed Copacabana and Ipanema, this beach is beautiful to stroll along either the beach side or the beautiful mosaic boardwalk. This is a beach that is even more beautiful when it's crowded to get the benefit of the variety of multi-colored umbrellas that make this beach so picturesque. And the kiosks/cafes along the boardwalk are all great and some have really enjoyable live music. This beach and its offerings are a great way to spend a day!!

    Nice beach
Reminded me of Miami Beach or Palm Beach; across the road from the beach are restaurants, hotels, and pricey apt. buildings. And don't get caught up in all the hype about The Dangers! Like any big city, you need to use good judgment - no dark alleys at night, no flashy jewelry, minimum of valuables. And if you want to go into the water, just ask any of the people nearby to keep an eye on your stuff. No problem, really!
